Apart from the reward which you chose yourself, how did you get to win Jarrett twice. Simply because there are times you really try to make effort so as to earn more points, like reading story book by yourself, try to help Jarrett even just a very simple task and claimed that you help Jarrett, like helping him to wear his school shoes when we pick him up. In fact, you have been doing that before we started this reward point system. 

Since it’s difficult to get you to finish your water in your bottle, we will give you extra points if you finish the water before I pick you up from school. Just like earlier in school, after picking up your bag, while walking towards me, you were trying hard to finish the water in your bottle! So you got your points. However, it still didn’t help much to get you to eat faster. In addition, you refused to minus point when you did something wrong or slow or not listening to us and you will whine and cry. Since when you cry and whine, you will delay doing a lot of things. We will now minus the points later when we get you to add points at the end of an activity/day. Seems like trying to penalise you at the very point of misbehaviour, you will kick a fuss. We’ll see how that goes.

We have moved! Yes, we have have shifted our home to somewhere nearby. It was a decision we made a few years back and since the place is ready to move in, we got a great moving date and finally moved most of our things over.

Both you and didi, Jarrett, are sleeping in the same room instead of sleeping besides us. This one is a major milestone for both of you since from day 1, both of you have been sleeping besides us. Jarrett sharing the bed with us while you sleep on a separate mattress besides us. So when we prepared your room, we kept emphasizing that both of you will share the room and sleep together. We have a custom built pull out bed and you chose the top bed, while Jarrett the bottom. Problem with this arrangement was you will rolled down to sleep with Jarrett almost every night. Every attempt we brought you back to your bed, you would roll down again. The first time you rolled down, Jarrett woke up and cried for Mummy. Stacking 2 pillows doesn’t prevent you from rolling over. So what’s the solution? We just got you to sleep at the bottom and Jarrett on top.

Naturally, you were very happy and excited as you and your classmates waited for your turns. Since you are in K2, you are the last class in the programme. Your race was hopping with a ball between your legs, skipping around the hoola hoop and hopping back.

Your team didn’t come in first, but it was still a pretty good effort and most importantly, you enjoyed yourself.

The results are out… You have normal vision, with no need for specs. That’s a relief. Hopefully you’ll continue to take good care of your eyes, much better than Daddy.

Sadly, you cheated by copying the answers for the Sudoku exercise, which was just the next page. When you do your work, sometimes, you’ll ask us not to look at how you do your work. If you are doing well, we’ll normally agree to it and leave you alone to finish up…

Why did you choose to cheat? Because of the new “toy” Daddy bought, WiiFit. Daddy and Mummy promised you that after your homework, you can get to play with it. So you did your work and when it came to the Sudoku exercise, you asked us not to see how you do your work.  I was surprised you finished so fast, not suspecting anything amissed. However Mummy caught it as she too couldn’t believe it was so fast.

Initially, you deny it but after further asking, you admitted to cheating. Both of us tried to be calm and hope to get the message across that cheating is not welcome and frowned upon. In a way, I was glad you did, as it was a significant learning opportunity. I hope you’ll really get it and just do you best and not resort to cheating. As long as you did your best, it’s good enough for us.

Anyway, since now you know and I hope you will love this school and you will enjoy your school days and strive for the better as you move on!

99% Cocoa! Since it is good, might as well go all the well.

When we reached home, before I placed the chocolate bar in the fridge, I broke off a small piece to try. You saw what I was doing and ask what’s that. I said, “Chocolate, you want some?” That got your attention but somehow, you decided to ask me to try first. Breaking off half the piece I was holding, I drop it into my mouth and said, “Emmmm…, ok, here’s your piece”, placing a small piece into your mouth. After a few bites, I could taste the raw bitterness of the cocoa beans! Your reaction was similar, and quickly ask for water to wash the taste out. So how was the chocolate? “Yucks!”

For the first time, we made you guys got up so early in the morning at 5.35am!! We got both of you changed and immediately left to meet the rest at RC at 6am. Where were we going?

A short trip up north to Malaysia for a day trip to a fruit farm, bee aviary, ostrich farm and the main event at night, to see fireflies. When we just arrived in Malaysia, the weather started to turned a bit dark and it drizzled a little when we were at the fruit farm. Since it was drizzling, I didn’t managed to bring out my camera, so no photos. Anyway, it was educational as the guide took special care of the young ones, always getting you guys to stand in front and listen to him talk about how good a certain fruit is, the vitamins it gives, why they need to put plastic bags over the fruits etc. Do you still remember, in a bee colony, the worker bees are mainly female, not like the “jocks” in the “Bee Movie”

After lunch, we headed to see the ostriches!

The owner is very friendly and explained to us lots of facts about the ostrich. It has 7 “goodness”, they have long and beautiful eye lashes, the yummy meat, the feathers, the skin can be used for leather, the bones to boil and drink it as soup, the egg shell and the egg yolk, which can feed 20 people.

Feeding the ostrich is not as scary as it looks, the few that are freely roaming around are quite gentle despite their size.

After the ostrich farm, we headed for dinner and waited an hour plus for our turn to see the fireflies. By then, it was already 8:30pm. We didn’t ready know how we are to see the fireflies, which turn out to be a ride on a 40 mins boat ride. The best part for both of you is not seeing the fireflies but the boat speeding down the canal. The fireflies were a bit disappointing for Daddy, as I expected a magical view, much like the scene in Grave of the Fireflies, it looked to be more of a poorly lighted christmas lights… Too bad we couldn’t capture any photos as there wasn’t ready much to take.

By the time, we reached customs on Malaysia side, both of you have slept. A long tiring but educational trip.

When I asked about you abacus class, you said you like to do your game book, which is the number maze and Suduko. It’s good you can tell us what you like to do, maybe one of these days we’ll go jogging.

A few days ago, Mr Brown posted on his podcast See What Show”, a contest for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The question was simple, just email him why you want to see the show, the best entries will get a pair of tickets to see the show on Vesak Day, which is today. Daddy just entered for the fun of it, writing about hoping I can catch the show with my kids instead of a long bedtime story if I were to read the book to you… Didn’t really expect to win the contest. Yesterday, while scanning through my spam folder, I saw a congrats email that we got 2 pair of tixs to the show! Whew, fortunately, I did a quick scan before deleting the messages. So we made our way down to the cinema at Suntec.

From the list, I realised, we were the only family that got 2 pair of tickets. Many thanks to Mr. Brown and his team for the thoughtfulness of giving us 2 pairs, so that Mummy and didi can join us. Only problem was Jarrett was not interested to join us. We even tried using popcorn to “bribe” him, he still refused. In the end, we had to give up the tix. What a waste. However, there was an interesting thing that happen while returning the tix.

Anyway, in the theatre, you sat on my lap throughout the show, as you caught the trailer at home and felt certain parts looks scary. You sat through the whole movie! We were worried you may fall asleep halfway. Maybe it was the popcorn that kept you going.

Daddy caught the first movie so I could relate to the characters, to you, it must be interesting to see the animals talk especially the mouse, the magical characters of Narnia. Thanks to Mr. Brown again for letting us see the preview! :D

I iwish I could do a bit more to get the photos online but earlier, while syncing the contacts on the phone with my mac, I found many duplicates, so I decided to delete all entries on my phone and work on cleaning up the mess on the Mac’s address book. After which, while syncing, I was too quick on the button and accidentally deleted all entries on the mac too!!! Arghhh!!! Now I’ll need to send email to my contacts asking them to give me their numbers again. Ok, enough rambling… here’s some more photos on top of those posted at Jarrett’s blog
